Indian Cave State Park Campout

Troop 412 enjoyed a great Fall weekend at Indian Cave State Park for a family camp out. All family members were invited to camp with the Troop and partake in the weekend activities and Indian Cave State Park. The State Park had many displays of candle making, soap making, blacksmithing and broom making at the living history demonstrations. Later on Saturday evening there was Trick or Treating at the old haunted town of St. Deroin. Some of the families enjoyed a nice horse ride at the stables. Photos from the Camp out can be found in the Photos Gallery.

Sam’s Eagle Project

Sam and Troop volunteers began building a sturdy shed Saturday, October 10th for the Nebraska Territorial Rangers. The shed, when completed, will store the club’s heavy steel shooting targets. Sam along with skilled carpenter Lenny, designed the project for Sam’s Eagle Project. It will probably take one or two more days to complete. The Nebraska Territorial Rangers is an Old West shooting club in Logan, Iowa established in 1996. Their shooting range is an old time western town complete with Sheriff’s office , livery stable, saloon and hotel. The Nebraska Territorial Rangers have a website and Facebook page . Photos from Sam’s Eagle Project can be found in the photo gallery in the Photos Gallery. A very short video of the Scouts working on the project can be seen here .

Two Rivers SP Campout

Troop 412 camped at Two Rivers State Recreation Area near Waterloo Nebraska on the weekend of September 18-20, 2015. The weather was perfect for a Fall campout. Summer Camp

This year, there were some changes to the Camp Cedars experience. Kit-Fix, was given a full overhaul. In the past it had been a class primarily focused on rank advancement. However this year it was adapted to fit the needs of campers, and the camp as a whole. It was lengthened to a full day class, however many fun activities were added. Photos from this year’s summer camp can be found here and also here .

Spring Camporee

Our Spring Camporee was held at Camp Cedars. Although the weather was raining and cold, it did not dampen the spirits and competiveness of the Scouts. There were 14 Scouts and 7 adults leaders that attended the campout for the weekend. The Scouts participated in seven events putting their first aid, pioneering, accuracy, problem-solving, memory and leadership skills to the test. The scouts had the challenge of building the tallest flag pole, using tennis balls with a slingshot to hit targets, administering first aid and transporting patients and using 2×4 to move the patrols out of the swamp.
